We are now half-way through October, which means that Q4 2020 has actually begun. Yes, it feels weird and I’m now reflecting on some of the ambitions I had for this year back in January.

Obviously, some have not materialised. But some have, just not in the way I expected.

After the initial shock of lockdowns, many of us have had to pivot our businesses and careers. But, if you are reading this, you are still alive and want something more from life than just survival.

Remember this when you are listening to gloomy news forecasts.

Yes, economic indicators are down, but the human condition remains the same.

Life goes on, even though we have not gone back to normal. We are facing more work from home and restrictions on many of the things we love doing.

And nevertheless, lying under a duvet with three packets of biscuits is not a long-term strategy (although admittedly a great short-term relief).

There is still plenty of opportunity to grow our knowledge, careers and businesses. But the plan to capture those opportunities has to be grounded in the reality of today.

Obviously, the fashion and retail sector is not going to have the usual silly season bumper, but it’s not all doom…
